Inner Healing

All of us have been hurt and wounded in our past. Those hurts and wounds from the past will affect our present life and relationships unless we allow Jesus to bring healing in those areas.

Some examples of past hurts/wounds are abuse, abandonment, addictions, anger, anxiety, depression, fear, hopelessness, condemning/accusing thoughts, unforgiveness, guilt, etc. Unless these past hurts and wounds are healed, those areas will make it difficult for us to have a healthy self-image and healthy relationships. How do we know what hurts/wounds we have? Typically, anything that causes a strong emotional response or tears is an indication that there are areas of our life that need healing.

Whenever we are hurt/wounded emotionally, we carry a lie about that hurt or wound into the future. Whenever that hurt/wound is triggered in the future, that lie pops up in our mind and we apply that lie to our present situation, thus experiencing the emotion of that hurt/wound again.

In order to be set free, we must go back to the original wounding point and identify the lie we were believing about that situation. We also need to recognize that Jesus was there with us at that moment of hurt and He has a word of truth that He wants to give us to counteract the lie we have been believing. Jesus not only wants to give us a word of truth about that situation, but He also wants to take our pain from us, so we are permanently healed of that hurt.

INNER HEALING SHORT SCRIPT

Here is a sample Inner Healing Script to use to bring healing in your life from the past hurts/wounds that the Holy Spirit is revealing to you that need healing.

Go back in your mind to the painful moment.  The Bible tells us that Jesus is always with us.  He is everywhere present.  Jesus was with you back in that situation.  He was there in your pain.  You just didn’t realize that.  Go back to that place.  Hear what was said, remember what you saw; feel what you felt.  Let the emotions come.  When you are back in that moment and feel the intensity of the pain, then

Look around that scene in your mind.  Jesus is there someplace.  He wants to speak to you about your pain in that situation.  Do you see Him there?  What is He saying to you?

Wait for a response.

Sometimes you may need to pray out loud and ask Jesus to show Himself to you in that situation.  Ask Him to reveal His presence and give you the message He wants you to hear.  Do you see Jesus there?  What is He saying to you?

If you do not see Jesus or hear His voice, something is blocking that.  (See the NOTE at the bottom of the page.)

Wait for a response.  Once you find out what Jesus told you, picture putting all of your pain in the palms of your hands and giving that pain to Jesus.

The Bible tells us that Jesus came to take our pain and bring healing to our lives.  Jesus wants to take your pain.  Will you give it to Him?

Picture in your mind giving your pain to Jesus.  Watch what He does with it.

Were you able to give your pain to Jesus?  What did Jesus do with your pain?

Once you give your pain to Jesus, just let Him leave with it.

Think about what just happened.  What is the lie that you were believing previously about that situation that caused you to have that pain?  What is the truth that Jesus showed you about that situation?  Pray out loud and (1) renounce the lie that you were believing (2) affirm the truth that Jesus showed you (3) thank Jesus for taking your pain.  Pray for continued healing and the ability to trust Jesus more and more each day.

NOTE: If a person was the cause of the pain, be sure to say a prayer forgiving the person who caused you that pain and asking Jesus to bless their life.  Sometimes this step is necessary in order to see Jesus or hear Him in that painful situation.
